Open your eyes

The saying goes "just because it shines like gold, doesn't mean it's good". Some people find that a hard concept to follow and end up finding out the harsh reality of their actions. It is important to take into account every aspect of a person when building a relationship other than the physical. The physical aspect of a person tends to be blinding and can lead to acceptance of someone lower than what your moral standards are set to be.  It tends to cause you to turn the "blind eye" to the things that may in fact repulse you. One must take control of their mind and do not let feelings control your actions. Feelings are impulsive and often uncontrollable whereas your actions should come from reason. My general philosophy about this is that one should respect oneself enough not to settle for a golden exterior with a dark, less than sufficient interior.

Feelings and What If's

Feelings are something that are uncontrollable and often misunderstood. They also are often get repressed or hidden. One thing I have learned over the years is that feelings are meant to be shared. Keeping feelings in leads to frustration, self-inflicted heartache, stress, and the most difficult question to ponder: "what if..?" That question has proven to be a serious burden to the people I see around me. To go through life wondering what if will be something that forever troubles you until those feelings are released or dealed with. One should never hide his or her feelings no matter how bizarre or ridiculous they think they are. What's often found once feelings are released is that those feelings are mutual. So, speak up, say what's on your heart and mind, and don't be afraid of how someone will react...chances are they feel the same.
